Stakeholder Coordination, Mobilization and Sensitization Meeting for Communities in Marka and Janale Districts

On 18 January 2026, Mustaqbal Development and Relief Organization(MUDRO) in partnership with Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO)organized a stakeholder coordination, mobilization and sensitization meeting for communities in Marka and Janale Districts under the project titled “Support to Ecological/Natural Flood Protection Activities in Flood-Prone Canals.”

The meeting marked the launch of Activity 1 under the Letter of Agreement and focused on aligning district authorities, community leaders and stakeholders with project objectives, timelines and accountability commitments.

The meeting aimed to secure district-level clearance, sensitize stakeholders, and establish a shared understanding of project objectives, planned activities, accountability commitments, and implementation approaches.

The participants were introduced to Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) as a sustainable and cost-effective approach to flood risk reduction. Cross-cutting priorities such as AAP, PSEA and gender equality were emphasized, with mechanisms for transparency and community trust. Local authorities showed strong support for the initiative and acknowledged MUDRO’s positive track record, indicating strong stakeholder buy-in for successful project implementation and long-term impact.
