MUDRO, with generous funding from the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF) and in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH) Jubbaland, under the project “Community nutrition services to climate shock aƯected populations in Kismayo” successfully conducted a three-day training on the Mainstreaming and Integration of Accountability to AƯected Populations (AAP), Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), GenderBased Violence (GBV), and Child Protection (CP) in Nutrition Programming from 17th to 19th August 2024 at AGAN Hotel in Kismayo.

The training brought together 33 staƯ members (19 male and 14 female), aimed at strengthening their capacity to ensure inclusive, safe, and accountable nutrition service delivery. Over the three days, participants enhanced their understanding of AAP principles such as participation, transparency, and feedback mechanisms; learned organizational responsibilities for preventing sexual exploitation and abuse; and explored survivor-centered approaches to addressing GBV and child protection concerns within humanitarian contexts. Practical sessions included scenario analysis, group discussions, and hands-on exercises using digital tools such as Kobo Toolbox for eƯective data collection and quality assurance.

Assessment results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge, with average scores increasing from 53% in the pre-test to 87.5% in the post-test, highlighting the eƯectiveness of the training. MUDRO expresses its sincere appreciation to the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF) for its invaluable support in strengthening the integration of accountability, protection, and prevention measures within nutrition programming in Somalia. This successful training represents a vital step toward enhancing safe, ethical, and communitycentered humanitarian response systems that uphold the dignity and rights of aƯected populations.
