This vital intervention directly addresses the urgent need for safe and reliable water sources in the area. Years of conflict and recurrent drought have severely impacted existing water infrastructure, leaving many communities vulnerable to waterborne diseases and forcing women and children to travel long distances to fetch water. The rehabilitation work involved a comprehensive overhaul of the three wells, including:

  • Deepening the wells to ensure a sustainable yield of water, especially during dry seasons.
  • Installing new, durable hand pumps to replace broken and ine icient equipment.
  • Constructing protective sanitation slabs and drainage systems to prevent contamination and maintain hygiene standards around the water points.

This initiative is a cornerstone of our commitment to improving community health, reducing the burden on vulnerable households, and promoting long-term resilience in the Bakool Region. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF) for their generous support, which made this life-changing project possible.
